Excursions
Besides enjoying the resort, we also went on several excursions. Monday, we went to the nearest island, La Gomera. The bus picked us up from the resort drove to the harbor. There, the tour guide led us onto a large ferry, the La Gomera Jet. The tour bus came with us as well. The La Gomera Jet took all of us to La Gomera in just 45 minutes. Once we arrived on the island, we got back on the bus and rode on the small windy roads that zig-zagg up and eventually through the steep volcanic mountains. The scattered terras farming and bananna fields that we saw along the way were both interesting and beautiful. We ate a traditional Canary lunch. Because It tasted like Chinese food, it prvided another piece of evidence that the Europeans are copy cats as far as their food goes. Tuesday, we went for a whale and dophin watch. It was sunny but very windy on the boat. About an hour after we left the peer, we found dophins swimming near the boat. Shortly after that, we were chasing after a big group of whales. It was exciting to see dophins and whales surfing the wave so freely. Wednesday, we went to see the volcano and the Loro Park. Like other volcanos, this volcanic mountain has its unique beauty which we really enjoyed. Loro Park is very clean and beautiful. We saw the dophins, sea lions, and many parrots played their stunning tricks, and we were amazed by those smart and well trained creatures. Thursday night, we went to San Micuel castle to see the knights. They have quite impressive horsemanship and the fights were somewhat exciting. David enjoyed it very much, but Mei had to keep telling Jane none of this is real. After the show, there was music and dancing.
